Eye Strain

Visual tasks such as reading, using a computer or watching television, constantly demand both eyes to concentrate on the targeted images. However, prolonged eye usage often makes the eyes tired.

If the eyes are overused, the eye muscles tend to tighten, causing the eyes become dry or uncomfortable. The usual symptoms include: light sensitivity, eyelid heaviness, eye irritation, eye dryness, blurred vision, or double vision. Stressful lifestyle is often the main cause.

Eye strain may not be a serious problem, but if allowed to continue, it may lead to damaged vision or other eye problems. Proper rest can often alleviate eye strain. Since vitamin deficiencies can also result in tired eyes, a healthy diet or vitamin supplements will help.
