Presbyopia usually begins at around age 40, the common symptoms may include: blurred vision, eye strain or headache. These symptoms often occur while reading, sewing or using a computer.

Presbyopia is the eye aging process, as the eye lens gradually thickens and lose its flexibility. The aging changes occur within the proteins and muscle fibers - these changes tend to make the eye lens become less elastic.

Corrective eyewear is the most common treatment. Bifocal eyeglasses or progressive addition lenses, can often be used to correct presbyopia. Reading glasses can also be an option, but only for close-range work. In some situations, presbyopia-correcting surgery may also be considered.
