Hyphema is the following situation: the eye's anterior chamber is bleeding, often due to eye trauma or accidents. Hyphema is a medical emergency, and requires immediate medical attention.

Hyphema usually has the following symptoms: eye pain, bleeding, blood clot, photophobia, blurred vision. If intraocular pressure increases, or if bleeding re-occurs, the patient may need to be hospitalized.

During treatment, the patient should not engage in any strenuous activity. Instead, the patient need resting in bed. The patient should also avoid any aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, or arthritis medications, because these medications can promote bleeding.
